79 days: Carved Memories

Today felt like a trip back in time. I spent the morning at the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, a treasure trove of ancient history and artistry. The cool, quiet halls were filled with the most intricate carvings I've seen in a long time. The stone sculptures, some weathered by centuries, told stories of the gods, warriors, and mythical creatures that once ruled the Cham Kingdom.

The details on the sculptures were captivating, and I found myself pausing for long moments to sketch parts of the exhibits that caught my eye. A statue of a guardian spirit, tall and regal, held my attention the longest. I imagined the awe it must have inspired in its time.

I ended the day sitting in a small cafe nearby, sipping Vietnamese iced coffee as the city moved around me. Da Nang feels vibrant yet serene, modern yet steeped in history. There's a quiet energy here that I wasn't expecting. I left the museum with pages of sketches and a sense of connection to the ancient stories that lingered in the stone.

Now I'm ready to transform these moments into something new on my canvas tomorrow.
