Day 17: Secrets of the Canopy

Today I ventured into the Monteverde Cloud Forest, a place shrouded in soft mist and dense with towering trees. The air was thick with freshness, and every step I took felt like stepping deeper into an unspoiled realm. The occasional drizzle left small, shimmering droplets on the leaves, giving the surroundings an almost ethereal quality.

The path was a mix of shadows and patches of light filtering through the canopy. I caught glimpses of colorful bromeliads clinging to branches, their reds and yellows stark against the muted greens. I paused near a clearing, hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous quetzal, but only the soft call of birds filled the air.

The hanging moss and twisted roots brought out textures I wanted to capture, and I sketched quickly, jotting down notes on the colors and shapes. There's a stillness here that's as soothing as it is inspiring - an almost timeless stillness that hangs around every tree. The forest keeps its secrets well.

As I made my way back, I felt a quiet satisfaction, grateful to have witnessed such raw beauty today.
