77 days: Breath of the River

I spent the afternoon walking along the banks of the Sangker River, taking in the peaceful scenery. The water shimmered under the warm sun, and a light breeze made the heat bearable. Fishermen moved along the banks, their silhouettes reflected in the calm water. The simplicity of their routine made me stop and appreciate the rhythm of life here. I found a quiet spot to sit and pulled out my sketchbook, trying to capture the movement of the river and the stillness of the surrounding trees.

Along the way, I met a local artist named Dara. He showed me his sketches, mostly scenes of everyday life in Battambang, with a focus on the market and the temple. His lines were fluid and expressive, much like the way he describes his connection to the city. We talked for a while about how the city inspires us differently. It was comforting to share that connection with someone who sees life through a similar lens.

Today's walk left me feeling grounded, as if the river itself slowed my pace and let me breathe deeply. I'm already thinking about how these sketches will evolve into tomorrow's work.
