Day 44: Cliff’s Silent Keeper

Today was an unusually peaceful day. I visited the iconic Grand Turk Lighthouse, a structure that has stood the test of time. The walk up to the lighthouse was quiet, with the sound of the ocean accompanying me like a gentle melody. As I approached the cliffs, the view opened up to a vast expanse of turquoise sea meeting the horizon.

Standing at the edge, I felt the cool breeze carry the salty tang of the sea air. The cliffs below seemed etched with stories, their jagged edges softened by the lapping waves below. I spent some time capturing the scene in my sketchbook, the lines and textures a challenge to translate, but immensely satisfying.

The lighthouse itself, its whitewashed walls weathered by years of salt and sun, stood as a silent sentinel over the island. A local guide shared snippets of its history, adding layers of depth to my experience.

The day ended with a simple but delicious meal at a nearby cafe. Fresh conch fritters and a cold drink felt like the perfect ending. My thoughts wandered to how this serene landscape could shape my next piece of art.
