Day 75: Ivan's Fortress

Today was a wonderful day. The weather was mild and there was a gentle breeze that carried the whispers of the past as I sketched the fortress's ruins.

I visited Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnovo and met a local historian named Ivan Petkov. The weather was mild and there was a gentle breeze that carried the whispers of the past as I sketched the fortress's ruins. He shared fascinating stories about Bulgarian history. Ivan shared fascinating stories about the fortress's past. He spoke of emperors and sieges, making the stones around us come alive with history.

During our conversation, Ivan expressed his deep connection to Veliko Tarnovo. He has spent his entire life here, watching the town evolve while cherishing its historical roots. Our chat provided insight not only into the fortress but also into the soul of this place.

After we said goodbye, Ivan suggested a charming café located by the Yantra River. I spent the rest of my day there, sipping on warm herbal tea and reflecting on Ivan's stories and the experiences of the day. His passion for his town's history was inspiring, reminding me that every place has hidden layers waiting to be explored and appreciated.
