86 days: Arjeta Krasniqi

The ascent to Prizren Fortress is a journey through time. Its ancient stones, warmed by the sun, offer a silent narrative of Prizren's past. The panoramic view of the city atop the fortress is a painter's dream, with a blend of rooftops, minarets, and the flowing Lumbardhi River, all set against the backdrop of the Shar Mountains. During my visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Arjeta Krasniqi, a local student with aspirations of becoming a historian. Arjeta has a deep knowledge of Kosovo's history and a love for its rich cultural tapestry. She shared stories of Prizren that went beyond the pages of any guidebook. Her passion for her city's heritage was infectious, providing me with a deeper appreciation for the fortress and the city it watches over. Arjeta spoke of the fortress not just as a monument, but as a testament to the resilience and beauty of Prizren, a theme I aim to capture in my artwork. The enduring spirit of the city and its people was a reminder of the beauty of such places. Our conversation took place in Prizren, a city with a rich history and vibrant life. As the afternoon waned, the sun cast a golden glow over the city, providing a perfect end to a day of exploration and connection.
