First Journey Day 67: Reflections of Bergen
Date: October 30, 2023
Location: Bergen, Norway
In Bergen, Norway, the harbor city cupped by seven mountains, clear autumn light skimmed the fjords and sharpened every color. Today unfolded slowly—crisp air, wide horizons, and a gentle climb to perspective.
Clear Skies Over Bergen
Today was a day of serenity and reflection in Bergen. The clear skies and crisp air were a refreshing change. I decided to take the funicular up to Mount Fløyen, and the decision couldn't have been better. As the funicular made its ascent, the city's panorama unfolded before my eyes, revealing Bergen's beauty in all its glory. The fjords in the distance, shimmering under the sun, were a sight to behold.
Ascent to Mount Fløyen
At the summit, the view was even more breathtaking. I took a moment to sit down, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and let the tranquility wash over me. There's something about being at a height, looking down at the world below, that gives one a fresh perspective on life.
Choosing Stillness Over Sketching
I sketched a bit, trying to capture the essence of the landscape, but some things are just too vast and beautiful to be confined to paper.
Among the Pines and Trails
Later, I took a leisurely walk around, enjoying the nature trails. The chirping of the birds and the rustling of the leaves created a harmonious symphony, making me feel even more connected to the place.
A City in Sync with Light and Water
As the sun began its descent, casting a golden hue over the city, I made my way back. The funicular ride down was just as mesmerizing, with the city lights starting to twinkle, signaling the onset of evening.
Back in the city, I grabbed a light meal, reminiscing about the day's experiences. Bergen, with its natural beauty and serene landscapes, has left an indelible mark on my heart. It's days like these that make this journey so worthwhile.
