Elephant Parade

Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand

In creating 'Elephant Parade', my goal was to encapsulate a significant aspect of Chiang Mai's essence - the elephant. This majestic animal is not only a symbol of Thailand, but also a creature deeply woven into the cultural and spiritual fabric of the region. The design features an elephant adorned with traditional Thai patterns, reflecting the city's rich artistic heritage. These patterns are more than decorative; they carry stories and beliefs passed down through generations. My decision to fill the elephant with such intricate designs was intentional, to represent how culture and nature are intertwined in Chiang Mai. The elephant in this piece stands as a bearer of history, a guardian of traditions, and a bridge between the past and the present. It's a tribute to the enduring bond between Chiang Mai and these gentle giants, a bond that is revered, celebrated and deeply respected.
