Day 11: Veins of Stone and Leaf

Today I visited the Parque Seminario, better known as the Iguana Park. It's a strange oasis in the heart of the city, where iguanas roam freely among the trees, mingling with visitors as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

I spent much of the morning watching them, their scales and textures adding a strange beauty to the park's landscape. Some basked in the sun on the lawns, while others moved slowly along the paths, their limbs dragging with a languid confidence.

I sketched a few close-ups, focusing on their textured skin and unique postures. There was something almost regal about them, perched on rocks and tree branches with a casual elegance. The greenery around them, combined with the warmth and slight humidity in the air, made the place feel almost tropical.

Afterwards, I found a quiet bench under a shady tree and continued sketching, capturing the balance between the hustle and bustle of the city and the tranquility of this strange little sanctuary. By evening, the park was quiet as the iguanas retreated to their resting places. It felt like I had glimpsed a hidden side of Guayaquil, where nature claims a corner in the midst of urbanity.
