Second Journey Day 157: Ko Lwin
Today was a remarkable day exploring the ancient temples of Bagan. The weather was perfect for a day out, with the sun shining brightly and a light breeze making the heat bearable. I decided to take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the temples, which turned out to be a delightful experience.
During the ride, I met my guide, Ko Lwin, a friendly local with an infectious enthusiasm for the history of Bagan. He told fascinating stories about the temples we visited, explaining the significance of each one in great detail. One story that stood out was about the Ananda Temple, known for its stunning architecture and serene Buddha statues. Ko Lwin told me how the temple was built by King Kyanzittha in the 11th century and how it remains an important place of worship today.
We visited several other temples, each with its own unique charm. The highlight of the day was watching the sunset from a temple terrace. The view was breathtaking, with the sun casting a golden glow over the ancient structures, creating a picture-perfect moment.
Ko Lwin's passion and knowledge made the tour truly enriching. His stories brought the history of Bagan to life and I felt a deep connection to the place. As the day drew to a close, I felt grateful for the opportunity to explore such a beautiful and historic place.
