86 days: Mei-Ling’s Glance
Share
Today I visited Tiehua Music Village and found it to be a refreshing blend of art and culture in the heart of Taitung. The village had a relaxed atmosphere, with wooden stalls displaying handmade jewelry, ceramics, and vibrant paintings. Musicians played soft melodies in the background, and the smell of street food hung in the air. I took my time wandering the stalls, chatting with local artists about their creative processes.
I was particularly drawn to a small art gallery featuring traditional Taiwanese landscapes. The delicate brushstrokes and subtle use of color were captivating, and I sketched a few pieces to remember the serene scenes. A local artist, Mei-Ling, noticed me drawing and came over to chat. We exchanged thoughts about our artistic journeys, and she showed me some of her own ink paintings.
As the sun set, the village came alive with music. Small groups gathered to listen to impromptu performances, their laughter mingling with the melodies. I sat quietly, absorbing the energy around me. It was a peaceful day, filled with moments of genuine connection and a shared appreciation for art. I left the village feeling inspired and looking forward to translating the day's experiences onto paper.
