First Journey Day 45: Košice's Clockwork

In Košice, in eastern Slovakia, medieval streets meet a lively café culture. Autumn light skimmed the pastel facades, and the day moved at a measured tempo set by tram bells and cathedral chimes.
Quiet Moments at a Café
Today was a day of quiet reflection and artistic immersion in Košice. The city's charm is undeniable, with its rich history and vibrant culture. I found myself drawn to a local café in the heart of the city. As I sipped on my kopi, a familiar taste that reminded me of home, I took out my sketchbook and began capturing the essence of Košice. The bustling streets, the laughter of children playing, and the gentle hum of conversations around me provided a serene backdrop.
Gothic Spires and City Time
The architecture here is a blend of the old and the new, reminiscent of some parts of Singapore, albeit with a European touch. I was particularly captivated by the St. Elisabeth Cathedral, its Gothic spires reaching for the skies, a testament to the city's rich history.
Conversations Between Strangers
As the day wore on, I interacted with a few locals and tourists alike. Many were intrigued by my sketches, and we exchanged stories of our travels. It's moments like these that make this journey so special. The connections, the shared experiences, and the mutual appreciation for art and culture.
Choosing Stillness While Sketching
As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the city, I packed up my things, feeling content and inspired. Košice has left an indelible mark on my heart, and I look forward to what tomorrow brings.

Partly cloudy skies, a soft breeze, and the steady pulse of tram bells made the whole day feel timed to gentle weather—unhurried, exact, and kind.
