Fourth Journey Day 45: Stone and Songlines

Today was a step back in time as I walked through the Alcázar de Colón, a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. As I walked through the grand halls and observed the detailed exhibits, I could almost hear the echoes of past conversations that might have taken place within these walls. Tropical sunlight streamed in through the arched windows, creating intriguing patterns on the stone floors.
The furniture and artifacts on display were rich with history, each piece seeming to carry a story of its own. A guide shared fascinating anecdotes about Diego Columbus and the era of exploration, adding to the experience. I took my time sketching the intricate details of an ornate chair and the heavy wooden doors that seemed to hold secrets from centuries past.
Afterwards, I sat in the square of the Colonial Zone, taking in the vibrant atmosphere of the streets. Children played near the fountains, and the scent of local street food wafted through the air. A light breeze carried the laughter of passersby, mingled with the faint strains of a street musician's guitar.
As the day ended, I felt a deep appreciation for the layers of history and culture embedded in this city. Every moment here was a vivid tapestry of the past meeting the present.
