Fourth Journey Day 61: Fragments of the Mooring

I spent the morning at Six Men's Bay, a quieter corner of Speightstown where time seems to flow like a gentle tide. The colorful fishing boats bobbed rhythmically in the water, their peeling paint telling quiet stories of the sea. Fishermen were busy at work - mending nets, hauling in the morning's catch, or chatting comfortably under makeshift shade.

I found a shady spot near the edge of the bay and unfolded my sketchbook. The scene before me felt alive. The bright blues, reds, and yellows of the boats contrasted with the muted tones of the weathered wood and gentle waves. I worked quickly, capturing the tilt of the hulls, the scattered ropes, and the way the sunlight glimmered on the rippling water.

The fishermen paused briefly to look at me, a curious outsider, before returning to their work. A friendly man who introduced himself as Jarell offered me a mango and told me about his family's fishing history. I sketched as we spoke, adding details that brought the boats to life-a name painted in bold letters, a faded flag fluttering in the breeze.

As the afternoon wore on, the sun softened and the bay turned golden. I packed up, pleased with my sketches and grateful for the quiet company. There's something humbling about observing life so tied to the water. Tonight I'll refine the sketches into something more permanent. I want to preserve the simplicity and beauty of the day.
