Fourth Journey Day 66: Threads of Spice and Sea

Today was a day of discovery and a deeper appreciation for Grenada's rich heritage. I visited a nutmeg plantation and the experience was both educational and inspiring. Walking through the fields, I was greeted by the unmistakable aroma of nutmeg wafting through the air. The guide explained the intricate process of harvesting, drying, and processing the spice, each step imbued with a sense of tradition and pride.

The workers were meticulous in their craft, and their dedication was evident in every detail of the plantation. I sketched some of the scenes - baskets full of nutmegs, sunlight streaming through the wooden slats of the drying rooms, and the earthy textures of the landscape. These moments felt like a bridge to Grenada's history, a testament to the island's resilience and ingenuity.

After the tour, I spent time walking along the boardwalk. The gentle breeze carried the scent of salt and spice, a perfect complement to the rhythmic sound of the waves. Watching the fishing boats dock as the sun began to set brought a sense of closure to the day.

As evening fell, I reflected on how much I had learned and experienced in such a short time. The nutmeg plantation was more than just a place - it was a glimpse into the soul of this island.
