Fourth Journey Day 96: Fragments of the Horizon

The day began with the golden hues of sunrise stretching across the desert horizon, promising an adventure steeped in history. I set out to visit Pukará de Quitor, the ancient Atacameño fortress perched on a hill. Its weathered walls and stone paths spoke of resilience and stories from centuries past.
The climb was invigorating, with each step offering a better view of the surrounding arid landscape. At the top, the panorama was breathtaking - rugged cliffs, stretches of ochre desert, and a sky so vividly blue it seemed endless. It was a moment of profound silence, standing among the remnants of an ancient culture while the wind carried whispers of the past.
As I descended, I paused to sketch a fragment of the fortress, capturing its rugged beauty against the vast desert backdrop. The shadows cast by the ruins felt like echoes of those who once walked these paths.
Back in town, I enjoyed a refreshing cup of herbal tea at a small cafe, where the lively conversation of the locals added warmth to the quiet evening. Today was a reminder of how history and nature intertwine so seamlessly in places like this.
