Fourth Journey Day 48: Shadow Keeper

This morning I ventured out to Castillo San Cristóbal, a sprawling fortress that stands as a sentinel over San Juan. The sun illuminated its weathered stone walls, casting dramatic shadows across the arches and bastions. As I walked along the ramparts, I could feel the weight of history beneath my feet, as if the whispers of past sentries still echoed through the corridors.

The view from the top was breathtaking - a sweeping panorama of turquoise waves meeting the vibrant rooftops of the city. The juxtaposition of the old fort and the modern skyline was striking. I paused for a moment, letting the salty breeze waft around me as I sketched the play of light and shadow on the walls.

Descending into the tunnels, I marveled at their design and imagined the lives of those who once called the fortress their stronghold. The intricate planning of this structure was not lost on me; every detail seemed to hold a story.

Later, I returned to the lively streets of Old San Juan, where music and chatter filled the air. The warmth of the people matched the weather, and I felt a deep sense of connection to this place. Today was a reminder of how deeply the past can inform the present and inspire my artistic journey.
