A quiet day in Kraków, Poland—overcast skies softening the edges of the Old Town. Between the expanse of the Main Market Square and the lanes of Kazimierz, rhythm slowed and sight sharpened.

Grey Light Over Rynek Główny

Today was a rather introspective day for me in Kraków. The overcast skies seemed to mirror my contemplative mood, casting a soft, muted light over the city. I began my day with a leisurely stroll in the Main Market Square, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling area. The architecture here is truly captivating, with each building telling its own story.

A Corner Café in Kazimierz

Later, I decided to find a local café to settle in. I chanced upon this quaint spot, tucked away in a corner of the Kazimierz District. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air as I entered, immediately making me feel at home. I ordered a cup of their speciality brew and found a cozy nook by the window.

Sketches by the Window

As I sipped on my coffee, I took out my sketchbook and began to draw. The scene outside, with people going about their day, framed by the historic buildings of Kraków, was truly inspiring. I lost track of time, engrossed in my art.

Awe in St. Mary’s

Later in the afternoon, I decided to visit St. Mary’s Basilica. The interiors left me in awe, with the intricate details and the play of light through the stained glass windows creating a serene atmosphere.

Evening Reflections

As the day came to an end, I reflected on my journey so far. Each city, each experience, has added a new layer to my understanding of the world and myself. Kraków, with its rich history and vibrant culture, has been no exception. I'm eager to see what tomorrow brings.

Travel Notes

  • Weather: Overcast and cool, about 8–12°C; a gentle chill in the air and a soft, silvery light across stone and spire.
  • Scents: Freshly brewed coffee mingling with damp cobblestone and autumn air.
  • Sounds: Footsteps on the square, low café chatter, a distant tram, and the ringing of St. Mary’s bells.
  • Reflection: Drawing slowed the day to a breathable pace; Kraków revealed itself in textures rather than headlines.
