First Journey Day 64: Artistic Atrium
Date: October 27, 2023
Location: Malmö, Sweden
Today’s wander in Malmö, Sweden unfolded under soft grey skies and light rain. Between museum light and the Swedish ritual of fika, the city offered a calm rhythm that matched the drizzle.
A City in Sync with Rain
Today, the weather in Malmö was a tad gloomy, with the sky blanketed in grey and sporadic rain showers. But, as they say, there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing. So, armed with my trusty umbrella and a sense of adventure, I set out to explore.
Galleries at the Malmö Art Museum
The highlight of my day was undoubtedly the Malmö Art Museum. The vast collection of Swedish and Nordic art was both enlightening and captivating. Each artwork told a story, a glimpse into the artist's world, their thoughts, and emotions. I was particularly drawn to the contemporary pieces, which resonated with the modern challenges and narratives of our time.
Quiet Moments Over Fika
After the museum, I decided to indulge in the Swedish tradition of "fika". Found a quaint café nearby and treated myself to a warm cup of coffee paired with a delicious cinnamon bun. The atmosphere was cozy, with soft jazz playing in the background and the gentle hum of conversations around. It was a moment of pure relaxation, a break from the hustle and bustle.
Choosing Stillness Over Sketching
I let the day breathe—no hurried sketching, just looking and listening. The city’s rain-polished edges felt like part of the canvas.
An Evening Drizzle, Easy Pace
As the day came to a close, I took a leisurely stroll back to my accommodation, taking in the city's architecture and the calm that comes with an evening drizzle. Malmö, with its mix of history and modernity, has left an indelible mark on my heart. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
