Fourth Journey Day 68: The Sunset’s Witness

Today was a gentle end to the year, spent wandering the historic grounds of Fort King George. The path leading up to the fort was shaded by tall trees, their leaves whispering softly in the breeze. From the top, the panoramic view of the coastline was breathtaking, with the turquoise sea stretching endlessly to the horizon.
The fort itself, with its preserved cannons and sturdy stone walls, felt like a window into the past. I spent time in the small museum, which housed relics and artifacts from Tobago's colonial history. Each exhibit painted a picture of the island's resilience and layered cultural heritage.
Sitting on a bench overlooking the harbor, I sketched the outline of the fort, the rolling hills in the distance, and the fishing boats on the water below. The breeze carried the faint scent of salt and distant cooking fires, grounding me in the present as I reflected on the journey so far.
As the sun dipped lower, painting the sky in shades of gold and crimson, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the moments I had gathered. This year ends not with grandeur, but with quiet contentment - a fitting farewell.
