Fourth Journey Day 77: Rhythms of the Divide

Today was a day of awe and serenity. I ventured to the meeting of the waters, where the dark, inky waters of the Rio Negro meet the sandy-brown Rio Solimões, flowing side by side without merging. It was surreal to witness such a striking natural boundary, a phenomenon that speaks volumes about the mysteries of the Amazon.

The river tour was soothing despite the sweltering heat. A breeze swept across the boat as the guide shared fascinating stories about the region's ecosystem and local legends. At one point, I dipped my hand into the cool water and felt the different temperatures of the two rivers, a tactile reminder of their separation.

Back in Manaus, I sought solace in a small riverside cafe, sipping a refreshing cup of guaraná juice. The rain arrived just as I finished, its rhythmic drops creating a soothing backdrop as the city seemed to pause for a moment.

Tonight I feel a quiet satisfaction, humbled by the grandeur of the Amazon and grateful for these vivid encounters. The coexistence of the rivers has left a deep impression and urges me to translate this memory onto canvas.
