Fourth Journey Day 94: Tides of Past and Present

Today I explored the historic neighborhood of Santo Antônio de Lisboa. From the moment I stepped onto its cobblestone streets, there was a sense of timelessness. The Azorean-style houses, painted in pastel shades, stood gracefully under the bright blue sky, their windows adorned with flowers spilling over the edges.

I walked past quaint shops and cafes, each oozing with local charm. The smell of freshly baked pão de queijo wafted through the air, mingling with the salty taste of the sea. Along the shore, boats bobbed gently on the calm waters, their vibrant colors reflected in the surface of the lagoon.

I set up my sketchpad in a quiet corner near the water's edge. The stillness of the lagoon against the backdrop of the lush hills made for a striking composition. Children's laughter mingled with the rhythmic lapping of the waves, adding life to the serene scene.

As the afternoon wore on, I sipped a freshly brewed coffee in a small café overlooking the bay. Conversations in Portuguese buzzed around me, warm and inviting. As I left, the golden light of dusk settled over the neighborhood, casting long shadows and deepening the colors of the day.

Santo Antônio de Lisboa left an impression on me - a perfect harmony of history, nature and community.
