Day 19: Arc of Tranquility

Today was peaceful, just what I needed. I set out in the morning to hike up to the Christ of Mercy statue that stands guard over the bay. The climb was manageable, although my legs felt the incline as the path wound up the hillside. But when I reached the top, the view was worth every step. The statue, tall and unwavering, seemed to hold a quiet strength in its posture, overlooking the vibrant ocean stretching endlessly beyond.

From the top, I could see San Juan del Sur spread out below with its colorful rooftops and the boats gently bobbing in the harbor. I stood there, just taking in the view, letting the wind blow through me, carrying with it the salty scent of the ocean. It's a humbling feeling to see the world from above.

I spent some time sketching the bay, capturing the arc of the shore and the little white boats scattered like tiny stars. I returned in the afternoon with a calmer spirit, feeling the gift of perspective and a sense of gratitude. Tomorrow I look forward to seeing what else Nicaragua has to offer.
