Day 15: The Market’s Heartbeat

Today I immersed myself in the heart of San José at the Central Market. The moment I stepped inside, a swirl of scents, colors, and voices enveloped me. Stalls overflowed with tropical fruits, handicrafts, and vibrant textiles, each corner revealing something unexpected.

I walked past rows of fresh herbs and medicinal plants, their earthy aromas filling the air. Vendors offered colorful wooden carvings, woven bags, and handmade jewelry-each piece reflecting a piece of Costa Rican culture. I paused to sketch a stall selling intricate pottery, the patterns and colors so distinctive.

A small cafe in a quiet corner beckoned, and I sat down with a cup of strong Costa Rican coffee. The bitter richness of the drink balanced the warmth of the day, and I sketched the bustling scene from my table, capturing the energy of the market from afar.

As evening approached, I left the market with a sense of connection to the city. San José's vibrancy is rooted in its people and their crafts, and today I felt it firsthand.
