Day 53: Roots Beneath Still Waters
Partager
The Botanical Gardens of Les Cayes offered a tranquil escape today. From the moment I entered, I felt the weight of time slow down. The lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and winding paths provided a much-needed respite from the hum of travel. I often paused to observe the intricate details of the plants-the veins of the leaves, the texture of the bark, and the way the light filtered through the foliage, casting delicate shadows on the ground.
One section of the garden particularly captivated me: a collection of native flora arranged around a small, reflective pond. The interplay of water, sunlight, and greenery felt harmonious, almost meditative. I quickly sketched the scene, focusing on the contrast between fluidity and structure. A passing gardener shared insights about the plants and their cultural significance, adding depth to my understanding of this space.
On my way back, I collected a few fallen leaves and small twigs to incorporate into future artwork. The gentle breeze carried the scent of the ocean, reminding me of how interconnected everything feels here - land, water, and people. Tonight I'll think about how to translate this harmony into tomorrow's creation.
Les Cayes has a quiet beauty that resonates deeply. It's a reminder of the importance of slowing down to truly see and feel the world around me.
