Day 84: Ruins of Light

Today was a day of quiet exploration and reflection. I ventured to the Jesuit Mission of La Santísima Trinidad de Paraná, a place steeped in history and art. The drive there was serene, with the landscape unfolding in shades of green and gold under a brilliant sun. As I approached the mission, I was immediately struck by its grand yet humble presence.

As I walked through the ruins, I felt a deep connection to the past. The intricately carved stone facades told stories of faith, resilience, and community. I was particularly drawn to the altarpiece, which, even in its weathered state, had a quiet beauty that spoke volumes about the craftsmanship and dedication of those who built it.

I found a shady spot near the main plaza to sketch. The play of light and shadow on the stone walls created patterns that seemed to shift with the breeze. It was challenging but rewarding to capture the details of the carvings and the atmosphere of serenity that enveloped the place.

As the afternoon wore on, I lingered to watch the sunlight soften and cast a golden glow over the mission. It was a poignant reminder of the passage of time and the enduring spirit of this place. I returned to Encarnación with a quiet satisfaction and a renewed sense of purpose, my sketchbook filled with the impressions of the day.
